Thanks for the comments.

@kmcdade, and these are things that we can see! (ala Eph.6)

@GeekMommy, thanks for adding to the conversation and for tipping me off to the asses! You're right, there is the gamut out there. I chose to write about this mean dude because he is an anomaly. Truth being better than fiction.

@Brian, I absolutely meant no disrespect to your profession. Indeed, just last week I heard the old, and quite outdated "ambulance driver" term and wanted to correct them. As I said above, this guy was such an untoward individual, I've been wanting to write about him for years!

The majority of bail enforcement agents I've encountered take their job, and the law, very seriously.

Thanks for sharing the quote - I've heard/read that before, but didn't know it was Orson Welles. Indeed, I'd like to think my family sleeps soundly because I'm ready to inflict consequences on those who would disrespect our boundaries.

"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

-George Orwell

The description of mean old grizzled bounty hunters is harldy the representative of the men and women of today's modern bail enforcement agent who are more the picture of a US Marshal's investigator than that portrayed by the whack-job and WWE character / super-hero Dog the Bounty Hunter.

I've met a few bounty hunters in my time. They run the gamut. From those you're sure inspired the Nordic stories of men who can turn into bears - to those who look like your image of a walking consumption patient in all black with a cowboy hat, sucking on a cigarette and leaning against a wall - until the chase is on, then they move like death-carrying ninjas.

Dog is flashy. That's why he's on television. But the majority of bounty hunters are folks I'd never want to piss off. Still, I'm glad they're out there - because sometimes life is like a hollywood movie - there does need to be car chases, gunfire, and pursuit to get the truly bad guys.

Love the story!! Very nicely done!

(p.s. the spell-checker betrayed you - you'll want an extra s on the end of one of these words! "Stepping closer to asses the unconscious woman")
