Hebrews 2:1 — So we must listen carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away.
Hebrews 3:13 — You must warn each other everyday, as long as it is called “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.
Too often we take for granted the truth and the light we now possess. We think of it like money in the bank that will just accumulate interest. Instead, it is like filling the bathroom sink with water and expecting the sink to still be full in the morning. But when we get up, we find that it has slowly drained out over night. We have to keep adding water to the sink if we want it to stay full. In fact, even if the water didn’t seep out through the drain, it would eventually become stagnant and stale. It is our duty to keep adding fresh, “living water” to the basin. This is how we keep our experience fresh, and living, and vibrant!
Also, it is important to look out for one another. To “warn each other everyday.” But we must do this in ways that shows love and grace like the love and grace we’ve experienced from God.
It is my desire to continue to seek God, through His word, everyday. I know that this is my only hope of remaining relevant and real. My destiny, my calling comes from the direction I receive from God — through His word and His Spirit I will remain on track with Him. I cannot minister from what’s left in my life. I have to minister from the overflow.
The last couple of weeks have been difficult. I have been somewhat coasting and this is not good. I need to get back on track and spend better quality time quality time with God. QT3 — that’s what will keep me going!
Father God, please use this time at this retreat to pull me in and to restore my relationship with you. Teach me to love your word and my time with you like I actually do — but translate my feelings and desires into action. Lord, be with the leaders of Common Ground this week. Bless them, protect them, draw them ever closer to you. Lift them up into your presence and fill them with your Holy Spirit.
Thanks God — I love you too!
